YouTube Music adds a new feature to share your personal radio

YouTube Music, the music service from YouTube that is included in YouTube Premium, is introducing a new feature that aims to provide an even more social environment. It is the availability of a personal radio that you can easily share with your friends and that will be a good reflection of your musical preferences and tastes.

The growth of YouTube Music, the platform that took over from Google's music service when Google Play Music closed down for good four years ago, continues. The platform's managers are launching new features to make users feel more involved in using the service and thus want to get more out of it. The latest is personalized radio stations.

Your profile grows a little more

YouTube Music profiles have been one of the most interesting features of the music platform since they were introduced in 2023. Users can set them to be viewable by other people, although it is also possible to set them to private mode so that our activity within the application remains completely confidential.

Now, this profile will incorporate the new feature we talked about: personal radio. The good thing is that, in addition to being present in the profile, it will also be possible to share it via a link, which will make it easier to send it to other people without having them go to your YouTube Music page. In addition to this, the platform has also confirmed that it will be possible to add personal radio as a playlist, which will allow you to have better access to their music.

How to create personal radio?

The most important aspect is that the personal radio is self-generated on a daily basis. It will take into account everything you have played and create a new radio that will allow people who enter our radio to connect with what we have been listening to. YouTube says that it is “based on recent music”, but it seems that it will not be simply an access to your history turned into a radio. As usual, the algorithm will most likely do its part to form the selection of songs so that your friends can have a larger repertoire of songs to listen to.

The new feature is described as “built for sharing”, so it’s clear that Google is putting extra effort into making YouTube Music more of a social tool. If you’re curious, you might want to know how you can enable this feature. First of all, it’s worth noting that it hasn’t been rolled out to all users yet. The service is currently preparing to launch this feature, and it could be something that becomes available in a matter of days. To check if you already have personal radio available, go to YouTube Music and, from your profile icon, go to the Settings section.

Now choose “Privacy & Location” and select the Channel Settings option. The next thing you will need to do is click on Enable Public Statistics or Enable Public Personal Radio depending on how it is displayed on your profile. If these options do not appear, it means that you have not yet received that feature in your account and therefore you will have to continue waiting. If you have found one of those two options, now you will only have to click on the accept button to save the changes.

This way you will have your personal radio activated and you can share it with your friends. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check your radio section from time to time to see if the system is sharing a series of songs that do justice to your plays.
